12th September. Setting description

We have been learning to write a setting description.

Shards of light pierced through the night sky jungle . Khaki , overgrown coloured vines  obscured the ancient, prehistoric temple. In the near distance , cerulean water cascaded over the jagged edge . Near the fractured , tangled temple , birds  whistled  in a high-pitched voice . Falling vegetation concealed the entrance . Humid , parched heat surrounded the blazing jungle enveloping the explorer . Jagged , prickling stones structured the crumbling temple.

Inside the prehistoric temple ,a mysterious golden idol , stood upon a platform , which rose up out of the ground , when it was approached . Crevassed walls were on every side of him and skulls crowded the colossal chasm near the idol , which was a ebony abyss to great depths . Moss covered the entire decrepit cave , which covered the webbed , vine-covered ceiling.

10th October: Recount

We have been learning to write a recount.

March 16th

It was far from over, although I had a feeling that deep down, my next victim was close. As I was spinning the wheel from my last accident, I faintly heard clattering of another engine. A car came past with an apprehensive man sitting inside, he asked me if I wanted a lift. Despite the fact that the man was cautious, I jumped in anyway. This random man just wouldn’t stop asking me questions. Would he ever shut up? As I checked my watch there were two minutes left. The stupid guy just stared into my opaque goggles and saw the crash, and then he crashed.

Yet again I was waiting as another car approached…

12th September – setting description

We have been learning about writing setting descriptions.

In the distance, he could still hear the dripping sound of water above the misty, mossy and pitch abyss. As he approached the temple, he could hear the raven’s eerie voice beckoning him to his doom. His hands rubbed against the misty, dusty walls. Without hesitating, he took a deep breath and approached the dark, masked obsidian temple with no emotion. Nervous but brave, he ripped the cobwebs of his face to see.

He could feel the cold water soaking his head above him. Outside of the temple, the light shone like the lustrous, gleaming, moon. The flaming torch whirled around the dark , damp , mossy wall. Every step he took, he could hear the sticks break as they shatter under his feel; he knew danger was ahead.

As he went around the corner the luminous, gleaming object was glowing in the corner of the corner of his eyes. THE IDOL!

13th October. Poem

We have been learning to write an Autumnal poem.

October 13th 2016

Stepping into the forest, freezing cold wind nips and bits my face.
Above me in the canopy, the blazing sun beams down through the translucent leaves; setting the forest ablaze.

Dead leaves dance like rain drops making their way down to the ground.
Branches sigh for their lost, loved siblings.

In the distance, I can hear the water cascading elegantly down the stream.
Getting nearer and nearer to the beautiful stream.
I was colder every minute.

As the sun sets, I get ready for the new season as I’m bitter cold, walking through the dense vegetation.

Underneath my feet, I heard the crackling leaves crunch under me.
Looking at the stream, I see the small leaves surfing in the waves.

Staring down at the river it’s looks like it’s carving a path.
The new season has arrived.

12th September,setting description.

We have been learning to write a setting description.

In the distance, the water crashed against the boulders below him. His shoes were still damp from the river. Above him, foreign bird’s screeched loudly. Fingers of vines lurked in the darkness waiting to squeeze him to death. Mossy damp walls surround the approach to the abyss ahead. shards of light shone down from the canopy. dense trees guard the temple like soldiers. the ebony abyss waited to digest him.

Taking a deep breath, he took his first. Stepping into the cave-like temple cobwebs masked the damp walls. The cobwebs, which sparkled like diamonds, stuck to his face like glue. Bones rattled beneath his feet as he took his next step; danger lurks ahead.

As he turned the corner, a gold gleam  caught the corner of his eye. THE IDOL. It was so calm in the chamber. That was what scared him the most…

We have been learning to write a setting description

As dawn fell , the intrigued explorer stood at the entrance of the monumental structure. Looking around, he saw animals obscuring things that he felt he needed to know. Fear over-ran his body, his hands shook violently as he lit his lamp.

Reflecting off the walls , the light danced causing shadows to appear. Stagnant walls filled the halls. Venturing even further in , he came to a room of corridors. A parade of snakes disguised themselves along the floor. Above the explorers head, cobwebs hang from the peak of the temple.

10th October: Recount

We have been learning to write a recount.

June 27

Today we went to sunny Greece to sunbathe. We found a warm spot on the coast, so we decided to set out mums ridiculous cartoon blankets. When it was almost dark, Mum woke up with Stella, my excited Border Collie, licking off her sweat. Ewww! We walked back to the battered boat and stinky dad fell asleep on Stella. So funny! He started sleep walking and talking about how beautiful mum is. How Cringe! I was making some hot chocolate until Stella jumped up at me, my drink went all over me. Hot, Hot, Hot! Mum came out of the shower asking what was wrong – that’s when she tripped over the muddy, wet rope and landed on her face. She hit the table, the jam fell on the floor and smashed. Surprisingly, naughty Stella started licking it up, I looked at her and she just licked her lips. Hopefully tomorrow won’t be as disastrous.

June 28

Today wasn’t a good day; it was horrible. It was still dark. It was cold. We went outside to get some fresh air and it was raining. A storm started and every flash of lightning made my fear grow. As the storm went on, I wished I was with my best friend Eddie. Every bite I took into my sandwich, I felt more and more sick. I tried to fall asleep so I could forget about it, but it was too loud. Mum and Dad tried to calm me down, but I needed to look for Stella. We all walked out onto the deck and we heard barking, Stella was near the edge without her harness. Dad told me she will be ok, but I wouldn’t believe him, I had to get my dog away from the crashing waves. Our soggy, battered Peggy Sue rocked as I tried to look for Stella’s harness. I couldn’t find it. The Peggy Sue rocked even more, without warning a large bolt of lightning illuminated an island in the distance. I had to go over to get our sweet Stella. Dad doesn’t know I heard him, but he muttered to Mum that this could be our last hope…

PGL year 6

We have been learning to write a recount.

October 1 2016

Today we were all woke up by Mr Greenfield at 6:50, a shocking 10 minutes before Miss Downey had promised to wake us up. How dare he! Eventually we managed to drag a grumpy Lucy out of bed so that we could go to archery. Whilst we were on the way to archery, the most annoying instructor told every one to call me “lost property”. Finally we reached archery and I didn’t hit any of the arrows in the bull’s-eye. That was fun! After that we had dinner, it was yummy! We had Emily and Joe with us doing ambush and capture the flag in one activity; I was on Joe’s team, but I was quite scared so I got moved on to Emily’s team. I didn’t have the time of my life, however I suppose it was okay.

October 2nd  2016

Today I was woken up by Kerry Ann doing her best impression of Mr Greenfield waking us up. Later that morning we looked at the trapeze. I didn’t want to go on the trapeze, because it was too high and looked quite scary. We then had lunch, it was so yummy! After that we did raft building. I was quite scared that I was going to fall in. Despite being scared, I still had a fun time – well a little bit. Soon after that we had dinner, that was great too. After dinner was over we went to the trapeze. The trapeze platform wobbled as if it was a freshly made jelly. I watched all of team two have their go. After waiting for team two to finish it was my choice whether I went on or not, I wasn’t too sure, so I said no. Later we had a camp fire, so we had to collect dry wood for kindling. Our group leader Joe took us for a walk while collecting wood . As we were coming back from collecting wood, my food got stuck down a hole. I managed to get it out. Then we had the camp fire , we told funny and scary stories. The scorching, dancing campfire made me tired. Finally we went to our room and to bed.

10th October,2016: Recount

We have been learning to write a recount

February 17th 2012

At mid-day, when the sun was at its hottest, I heard the creaking of a wheel. Over the hill I could see a mysterious figure standing on the side of the road, next to a smouldering car wreck. He put his thumb out, I offered to take him to the nearest station but he didn’t answer. I was confused.

The mysterious man got into my car, I was really nervous; my stomach sunk; my hands trembled and shivers went down my spine. I thought about how the man was standing next to the car wreck. He must have been in the crash, or at least caused it…

As we drove around the corner the strange man looked at his watch then stared at me. I looked closely at his goggles. I saw my car crashing over the edge of the canyon. What was this? I panicked, but before I knew it I was in mid-air about to crash into the golden sand.

Autumnal poem.

We have been learning to write an Autumnal poem…

Trodding into the dense forest, a bitter breeze falls upon me.

Enveloped in my lingering cloudy breath, I look overhead and catch a glimpse of the alit, translucent leafs.

Dead, dry leaves flutter towards the cascading, graceful stream.

Bare branches cry; they grieve their lost siblings.

Crisp leaves surf the waves with great pleasure.

As I head towards the mossy, damaged trees, the icy cold wind spirals around me numbing my feet.

Blocking the route of the stream, boulders stand their ground.

An array of beautifully bright leaves lay on the never ending carved path.

Autumn has arrived!
