14th October, short story

We have been learning to write a short story

October 14th, 2016

The two of us we were the only ones left. The only ones who made it to this island. As I sat up with the taste of salt burning my throat. the first thing I saw was the full moon reflection on the oily black sea. The stars gleamed over head through the translucent wispy fog. The clouds slowly moved among the sky covering the gleaming moon.

This had  to be a dream. All I could remember was I was on the Peggy Sue, then I heard a bark – Stella! I needed to find her she had to be some where I just know it when I turned around there was a gloomy, misty jungle she had to be there; she would be dead by now. It was worrying.

As I stood up I realised there was a steam of blood dripping down my left leg; I could not remember how it got there. As I looked around I saw the pattern of the sand weaving back and forth. Through the dense jungle I saw a dark shadow hiding, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. The hairs of my neck stood straight up. I had sweaty palms. As I looked down my trousers were torn like some thing had attacked me; one of my shoes were missing, maybe Stella took it. The Peggy sue must have crashed near this island. I heard something in the bush, then it jumped, it was Stella she was licking and jumping over me. She was alive!

The sun started to rise above the horizon. I felt less scared now that Stella was with me, I walked along the beach and I saw something buried beneath some old planks. It was dad’s hat and jacket – I wondered if my parents were on this beach. I collected all different kinds of things like decaying logs; jagged rocks tatted ladder. I made a collar for Stella’s lead. Then I made a fire to keep warm.

As the sun rose I could see a silhouette of a boat in the horizon. Could they be my saviours? Maybe. I shouted as loudly as I could, Stella and I barked for help until my throat was raw. The ship started coming towards us, could it hear our cries for help? I thought so, at least until it started turning away. I heard something to the left of me it was my parents, they were on the island too! We all helped to build a boat and then we sailed off into the horizon.
A new adventure begins. I hope it doesn’t happen again.

12th September: Setting description

We have been learning to write a setting description.

Falling vegetation masked the damp and soggy dirt. The ebony abyss is surrounded by vines, struggling to walk through the tangled path he moved forward. Scared yet cautious he stepped into the abyss. Stepping in the huge, jet-black temple he was stunned what he saw. A glimmering idol stood right in front of him, standing like a stone.

10th October: Recount

We have been learning to write a recount

October 1st

Today we went to sunny Spain to have a lovely meal. Dad had some barbequed meat with chips, mum was boring and had a plain salad with vegetables. I had a ham and cheese sandwich which was very nice. Sadly, no dogs were allowed so Stella had to wait but we gave her our leftover except from Mum’s lettuce of course she took it with her.

Also, we went to the beach. All of us splashed in the water except from mum who wore her disgusting, cringed fruit hat whilse she sunbathed. Then, Stella went missing. We got very worried but she was just stealing our sandwiches next to us; I tried to apologised but the did not understand. I went to tell her of but Stella, my hungry cheeky border-collie who was catching their rolls, ignored me and then licked her lips. Then, I had enough we told her off and left Spain to carry on with our journey.

October 10th

When I was writing in my log, mum interrupted me because Eddie wanted to talk to me. We were on the phone for about a hour or a little less. He said he would do anything to see me again. I said I would straight away when I got back. Whilst I was talking to him I saw a cool animal, I described it to him and he would have to guess. Halfway through playing, I had to go because Dad fell of the Peggy sue. I tried not to laugh but I had to; he found that very offensive

October 20th

Something very nightmarish happened today. I was peacefully steering the old Peggy sue where all of a sudden a humongous wave and storm approached us slowly from the east. Dad took over calling “MAYDAY” but no one heard! The threatening storm rocked us side-to-side almost tipping us. Mum, who was a very heavy sleeper, was sick as she woke up. She opened the door wondering what it was as she awoke she witness a nightmare! Every time the lightning flashed, my fear grew bigger. Saying a silent prayer I hoped the storm would subside.

12th September. Setting description.

We have been learning to write a setting description.

As he approached the tangled vines, he could still hear the waterfall cascading. Above him, he could hear the foreign birds conspiring against him. After stepping into the blue pond his boots were all soggy. Nervous and worried, he ran his dirty fingers along the mossy walls.

As he stepped into the colossal cave-like opening, cobwebs got all on his face and he had to scrape them of. The brave archaeologists had to squint so his eyes could re-adjust because of the sunlight. After squinting suddenly, heard a drip of water. his flaming torch flicked as the wind blew it spat out bits of fire. Beneath his boots, he heard a crunch, twigs, leaves or bones? He would rather not know the answer.

As he turned round the corner, he stopped and turned his head and saw a golden idol. His eyes focused on the golden, glistening idol. There was nothing there to stop him from reaching out to claim it for himself, but that’s what scared him the most.

12th September. Setting description

We have been learning to write a setting description

With his shoes squelching in the mud he approached the concealed opening to the temple. The vines around the entrance slithered from side-to-side, looking like snakes. In the distance he could hear the sound of the water crashing. The smell of damp moss invaded his nostrils, and taking a deep breath he took his first step forward into the mossy temple.

His flaming torch that danced in the hot breeze, shone bright and let him see the sticky cobwebs in the tunnel. He waded and breached through the thick webs. As he came around the corner, he saw a shining golden idol. But he couldn’t bring himself to step forward, as he was too worried that there may be traps.
