Suspense Writing

We have been learning to use strategies to build suspense in writing.

I didn’t know where I was. All I knew was that I was being followed by the mist. I knew I had to run from a mysterious figure. It was a phantom. It was every where. The branches were like haunted arms ready to tangle me. I trudged into the gateway to Hell. In the darkness of this spooky forest it was ice cold and a nightmare…

    I really like the way you used a simile like a haunted arms ready tangle me because I can paint a picture in my head of a scary setting also it sounds like the branches are alive very spooky like Halloween. I liked your use of “The branches were like haunted arms ready to tangle me” but try next time to do more sentence starters maybe some fronted adverbial.
