We have been learning to use strategies to build suspense in writing.
I didn’t know where I was. All I knew was that I was being followed by the mist. I knew I had to run from a mysterious figure. It was a phantom. It was every where. The branches were like haunted arms ready to tangle me. I trudged into the gateway to Hell. In the darkness of this spooky forest it was ice cold and a nightmare…
Next time, if I did this again I would not have it centered. I will add more punctuation.
I really like the way you used a simile like a haunted arms ready tangle me because I can paint a picture in my head of a scary setting also it sounds like the branches are alive very spooky like Halloween. I liked your use of “The branches were like haunted arms ready to tangle me” but try next time to do more sentence starters maybe some fronted adverbial.
